Game Description

Two players play an AR Hide and Seek game on a smartphone. In this game, the first player hides two monsters, and the second player searches for them under time pressure.

Tutorial

1) Start the app on your smartphone (currently only available for Android).
2) Read the rules.
3) Enter your name in the input field.
4) Press the "START PLACEMENT" button.
5) Now, point the camera towards the ground and wait for the placement symbol to appear.
6) Find a good hiding spot and place the first monster by tapping once on the screen.
7) Repeat step six to place a second monster.
8) Hand the smartphone to the second player.
9) Press the "START HUNT" button to start the search and the timer.
10) Use your senses (hearing, seeing, feeling) to locate the hidden monsters.
11) Once you find one, "kill" it by tapping on it once.
12) Find both monsters as quickly as possible to achieve a new high score.
13) Hooray! You've played our game!

Context

In the form of a module at the University of Lucerne (Studio Game 2), we were allowed to work in teams on a "random" project for 8 weeks. The goal was to explore new horizons.

Challenge

Art: Creating a living creature for the first time.

Tech: Using AR technologies to place virtual objects in the real space. Getting to know Unity and Vuforia (specifically "Ground plane Detection") better and using them together.
